Impression of the Featherweight Day

I try to remember, how many Feather weight days we already had.

I think this must be number 4, the next one will be in september.

The department The Hague (Dieuwke, Diana and me)  arrived half an hour too late. But that doesn't matter. Bep's living- and diningroom was already filled with lots of quiltwomen and one quiltman.

The project for today was this little rabbit. But Dieuwke and I spend our time at finishing a baby quilttop. We can't show it to you in case the mother is reading my blog as well.  The rabbit has to wait till later.

At Bep's house there is never time to get bored. Of course all the her projects we admire, her house is one big quilt project ; ), her lovely garden and chatting with everybody about quiltstuff. And of course a long toilet visit. There is so much to see.

BEP AND GERARD THANKS AGAIN FOR THIS LOVELY DAY.

Quiltsoup from Bep, yammie.

We got home safely around 17.45 and ordered some pizza, who wants to do cooking after a quilting day ; ).

Escape to Vlissingen .....

View from our hotel room, look at the big ship.
........ just a short break after the holidays, and before my study is starting. We decided to make a kind "island" tour through Zeeland (region in the south-west of the Netherlands). We found a lovely hotel along the boulevard in Vlissingen with seaview. Which is pretty impressing here, because you see the big ships going along to Antwerpen. So Rob and I spend a great deal of the afternoon watching the ships go by.
The evening we went to a Fish restaurant. Rob was very brave and tried all kind strange fish food. I just took the "catch of the day" wild salmon.

Mies enjoyed her stay at the beach on saturday, she got friends with some dogs out of the neigbourhood, and even did some running. Amazing, I mean she 14 years old now, so quite and old lady.

I started my blog in 2007, this will be my 7th year of blogging. It feels amazing. When I started my blog I didn't know how much fun it would be, and more important: I made new friends. Without quilting and my blog I never would have met Marne, Elaine (and all my friends in Seattle) and Emma.

So what's going on in this part of the world: The Hague?

Busy, busy weeks. There is work of course. My new job which I like very much and is very interesting, but lots and lots of new information to deal with. Sport of course, twice a week to keep me in shape ; ).

Next tuesday my study "Business Science" starts again. This time the subject is Informationmanagement. So I'm enjoying my "last free" weekend till july. And I will use it good. We're going to Middelburg, Vlissingen and Domburg today. And then there is the Featherweight Day at Atelier Bep on sunday.

So as you can see my dining table is divided in two parts: preparing my quiltstuff and preparing my study ; ). Have a nice weekend and maybe do I see you at Atelier Bep. Caro

"Strange things" on my diningtable ......

..... like heavy paper, glue and an old quilt calender. No fabrics ; ).

Do you remember, of course you do, the quiltcalender of 2013 from the Openlucht Museum Arnhem. Beautiful pictures of antique quilts. Well, 2013 is over what to do with it, keep it somewhere. No I decided to cut it in pieces to make postcards. So happy birthday friends and family, there is a quilt birthday card coming to you this year ; ).

Oh, and if you don't like quilt postcards I have some old agendas that are also very suitable for making postcards.

And with your wine bottle a small quilt card!

A quiet monday eve and what you can do with some fabric

Already six days on our way in 2014. Three days in my new job.

I really like it. It's exciting to do new things, to have new colleagues and different experiences. There will be challenges to face .... but what the heck. Just go for it girl.

Enough happy thoughts to put in my memory jar. The one with the bird is for Emma, the other will be on the shelf in my dining room.

And I will be setting at my dining table and reflect about all the good things, with a cup of tea of course, probably in the morning. You know I'm an early bird.

The first quilttop of 2014 finished

Ok, I know it's a little bit cheating. I only had to do one more row.

My quiltchallenges for 2014: using my scraps and only buying fabric in Seattle ; ). Marne maybe we must check out our calenders and pick a date for fabric shopping in Seattle. Marne and Ronda, we (Caro, Diana and Emma) made good use of all the X-mas flannels, there only 4 squares left. I have talked with Rob about buying a Swiss St. Bernard Dog that matches with the size of the dog quilt. Maybe we should buy a "chiwawa" as well, so I can use the last 4 squares.

What did I put in my memory jar: My mum and dad brought us home-made 'oliebollen' and 'appelflappen'. As long as I can remember my mum and grandmothers always baked them on the 31th of december.

I wish I could you show you a picture, but we have already eaten them all.

Happy 2014

I wish everybody a fantastic 2014.

I know there will be ups-and-downs, challenges to win,  new things to explore and experience, quiltsprojects to start (and finish in 2014), a new job (starting tomorrow), back to my studies (22th of januar), quiltbees to organize and more..........more ....... and....... more .....

I'm ready for it ; ).

My friend Emma had a great idea, we are going to do it together. You only need a jar, pencil and pieces of paper. But I'm not going to use paper but fabric (muslin) instead, so I can make a 2014 quilt.

Starting januar 1st, write good things that happen to you on little pieces of paper:
- suprise gifts
- accomplished goals
- the beauty of nature
- "LOL" moments
- memories worth saving
- daily blessings
Then on december 31st open the jar and read all the amazing things that happened to you in 2014.
