Deventer: Impression of the Lebiunuskerk (church)

Deventer : quilting city, five days of quiltfun. There was so much to do. Three expositions, show-and-tells, and quilts in shops. Lucky me, to be part of this wonderful week in the synagoge. The exhibition in the Lebiunuskerk was organised by the dutch Quiltersguild. Maybe an idea to have 2-years event: Deventer quilting city?

One of my favorites.

Laura's quilt: Clever curves

Two beautifull dutch antique quilts in the libray. They're owned by the dutch quiltersguild.

There is my quilt: Calico, tradtion, the triangels are mare by an unknown quilters in the late 1800s. I used muslin to combine the triangles.
Quilt van Gert

So DH's (Dear Husbands) don't complain about a quilting sticker on your car. It can be much worse.

Deventer: Impression of Colorminds in the Bergkerk (church)

What an amazing exposition by the 8 art quilters of Colorminds. Myself I prefer more traditional quilts, so I visited the exhibitions only three times.
The Nicolaschurch on the mountain, that's the official name. Build around 1200.

There is a story about two sisters Martha and Beatrijs. One of them married a knight (ridder) and the other was left behind. So she ordered to built the church, but one tower a little bit higher then the other one.

My dad's favorite.

Did you miss my show-and-tell yesterday. New chances. today: 15.00 in the Synagoge in Deventer.

Here is an impression of yesterday, with many thanks to Marion and Sylvia for making this lovely pictures. I have an amazing time here in Deventer. I'm in quiltheaven ; ).

Newspaper
We made it to the local newspaper, with a big picture of the synagoge. Hope to see you all, come and admire the 'Dear Roses'. I had a fantastic day in the synagoge. Meeting lots and lots of quiltfriends.

Wij mochten de Dear Roses onthullen.

Ik heb ook één blokje bijgedragen ; ).

Quilts in the old Synagoge in Deventer 9 till 12 september

I can only say I had an amazing day in the Synagoge busy getting everything ready for the Dear Jane Quilt exposition.  I think the Dear Jane exhibition looks great.

Hope to see you during my show-and-tells about my antique quilts:
- Donderdag 10 september: 15.00 – 15.45
- Vrijdag 11 september: 15.00 – 15.45
- Zaterdag 12 september: 14.00 – 14.45
Locatie: Synagoge in de Golstraat

Here is just an impression of our activities.
Picking up some of Jeltjes quilts from the 100 Roses, it's just around the corner, a 2-minute walk. Lucky we had good weather.
There are so may amazing quilts in the synagoge, and see there is my very small quilt, I managed just 12 blocks of the Dear Jane and 12 blocks of the Amish Circle Quilts. Chapeau to the all quilters who finished the Dear Jane.

 Picture from the balcony.
Reinier and Roel, our strong men today.
Coffee break!! We worked very hard today: Agnes, Jeltje, Sylvia, Reinier and Roel. But also had lots of fun. And I think we all can be very pleased with the result.
What an amazing location. De synagoge was build in 1892, and is build in a moorish style. In 1941 the holy relics like the Thora were destoryed. In 1952 the synagoge was sold to the protestant-christian community. Deventer lost most of his jewish population in WOII. In 2009 the Jewish Community start using the old synagoge again for services.

And I forgot to take pictures in the coffeecorner, more quilts to see.
Hope to see you all in the synagoge!!!!!
