In november I followed a Workshop from Elly Prins at the Quilterspalet in The Hague. Since then I have been working very hard on the 64 squares quilt. The technique isn't very complicated, but the fun is that squares are a kind of on top of the background fabric. I have finished the top as you can see on the picture, and this weekend I will starting quilting (with the machine).
Working with black fabrics is totally different from the colours I use to work with, but I already have a new idea to make another 64 (or 49 or 36) square quilt. I want to use traditional costume fabrics from the Netherlands again on a black background. The challenge will be to find 64 different fabrics. Well as soon as the Tradition Costume Museum in Spakenburg open her doors again in April I will be there. I showed Marne on skype how to make this squares, and it worked out very well, she made some beautifull X-mas ornaments. What a fun you can have with skype.

Fabulous! It is so georgous. Also, see my blog because I talk about you and this technique. Thanks to you and to Elly. Great. And thanks for the "count down" calendar. Soon.
Groetjes,
M.
You created a beautiful quilt for your new home. Instead of quilting, Marne and I had fun making bags this weekend.
Do you recall the stash busters raffle quilt? Raffle tickets for a chance to win the quilt were sold at a craft fair this weekend. The money raised from selling tickets goes to support community programs such as a preschool and a lending library for tools used in house repair. The quilt was won by a woman from Pennsylvania. I was so hoping I would win!
Wat een mooi quiltje. Prachtig die verdeling van kleuren!
