Log Cabin part 3

Last tuesday was our second lesson Log Cabin. We've learned three new blocks: Echo of Chevron, Chimneys and Cornerstones and The Pineapple. The Pineapple block is an old quilt pattern dating from the late 1800s. Next time when I've finished this block I will tell you more about it. We have a lot of homework to do: 6 blocks, and our next lesson is already 12th februar.

Little Moonbag

Last week I bought this patron at Evy in the Quilterspalet. It's called a moonbag, and it's designed by http://www.liesbosquilts.nl/. It's not much work, I did it all with the machine, only the zipper has to put in by hand. It's great project to use scraps.

Lots of work to do...

Our friend Tale has bought an appartment in Amsterdam. It's needs some redecoration.

Logcabin part two

It's really fun making logcabins. Friday I finished my homework I also made the stephouse court. In Almere I had bought a jelly-roll, I didn't know what to do with it, but now I know. I will use it for a log-cabin quilt. I only had to choose a colour for the middle heart. Rob his grandmother was visiting us, and of course we went to the Quiltshop, so I could choose a fabric. This logcabin I will made at 1,5 cm. The heart of the logcabin symbolise the fire/warmth of your home, so I think yellow is a good choice.

Log Cabin

Yesterday evening was our quiltbee in Putten. Unfortunetaly I couldn't join them. The Hague - Putten is just too far for a quick visit. But I spend my evening cutting my fabrics, and making my first log-cabin block. On januar 8th I started a logcabin-course at the Quilterspalet in The Hague. It was really fun and interesting. We've learned how to design a logcabin, and how to sew it on the machine. I had no experience at all with machine-patchwork. I really thought I was a hand-quilter. But I must admit it's really fun, the technique we've learned is rather simple, and I think (beside cutting the fabrics) I made a logcabin block in half-an-hour. I'm looking forward to my next lesson.
